southern pecan pralines

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • crisco® original no-stick cooking spray
  • 1 1/2 cups firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2/3 cup pet® evaporated milk
  • 1 tablespoon light corn syrup
  • 3 tablespoons crisco® butter flavor all-vegetable shortening
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups coarsely chopped pecans
  • 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar

    Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 10 mins Ready Time: 45 mins

  • coat a baking sheet lightly with no-stick cooking spray.
  • combine brown sugar, granulated sugar, evaporated milk and corn syrup in 3-quart saucepan. heat to boiling over medium heat, stirring constantly. cover and boil 1 minute. uncover. cook over medium heat, without stirring, to 235 degrees f on candy thermometer. remove from heat.
  • add shortening, vanilla, pecans and cream of tartar. stir with wooden spoon until mixture thickens slightly. do not overstir. let the mixture stand 3 minutes. drop by rounded tablespoonfuls prepared baking sheet. cool until firm.
