Sophisticated Baked Beans

Total Time: 2 hrs 10 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 2 hrs

Ingredients

  • Servings: 6
  • 2 (16 ounce) cans lamb and beans
  • 1 medium onion, minced
  • 1/4 cup light molasses
  • 3 tablespoons pickle relish
  • 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
  • 2 teaspoons prepared mustard
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 (7 ounce) bottle carbonated lemon-lime beverage
  • 1 (2 ounce) can sliced mushrooms

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 325 degrees.
  • 2 combine all ingredients except mushrooms.
  • 3 pour into a 2-quart casserole dish.
  • 4 bake for 1 hour 30 minutes.
  • 5 stir in can of mushrooms.
  • 6 bake another 30 minutes.

Tang-breakfast Drink Jelly

Total Time: 25 mins Preparation Time: 5 mins Cook Time: 20 mins

Ingredients

  • 3 3/4 cups sugar
  • 3 cups water
  • 1/2 cup tang orange crystals, powdered drink
  • 1/8 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 (1 3/4 ounce) box fruit pectin (powdered)

Recipe

  • 1 measure sugar and set aside.
  • 2 combine remaining ingredients in a large saucepan; mix well.
  • 3 place over high heat and stir until mixture comes to a hard boil.
  • 4 immediately add all sugar and stir.
  • 5 bring to a full rolling boil and boil hard one minute, stirring constantly.
  • 6 remove from heat, skim off foam with a metal spoon, and pour quickly into half-pint glass jars.
  • 7 wipe rims, apply lids and water bath process for 10 minutes.
  • 8 remove from canner and place jars on a clean, dry towel to cool.

Tangerine Posset

Total Time: 3 hrs 30 mins Preparation Time: 30 mins Cook Time: 3 hrs

Ingredients

  • Servings: 6
  • 2 2/3 cups heavy cream
  • 3 tangerines, zested in strips and juiced
  • 3 tablespoons caster sugar
  • 1 lemon, juice of

Recipe

  • 1 put the cream in a pan with the tangerine zest and bring to a simmer.
  • 2 turn off the heat, stir and leave to infuse for 20 minutes.
  • 3 strain the cream into a bowl to remove the zest and return the cream to the pan.
  • 4 bring the cream back up to just below boiling.
  • 5 stir in the sugar and then the juices.
  • 6 stir until mixture starts to thicken, 1-2 minutes.
  • 7 pour into 6 small glasses or ramekins.
  • 8 cool slightly then chill until set, about 3 hours.

Sorbet -- No Ice Cream Maker Needed!

  • 1 lb frozen strawberries (or your favorite frozen fruit)
  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt (i use non-fat plain yogurt)
  • 1/3 cup sugar (i use splenda)

Recipe

  • 1 put everything in your food processor and puree until creamy, you may need to add a bit of water (1 tablespoon at a time).
  • 2 serve immediately or freeze.
  • 3 ***if you freeze this you may need to allow the sorbet to thaw for 10-15 minutes at room temp before serving.***.

Lemon Water (agua Limon)

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 8 large lemons
  • 1 cup superfine sugar, plus extra to taste
  • 3 cups boiling water

Recipe

  • 1 finely grate the rind and squeeze the juice of 7 of the lemons into a large heatproof bowl.
  • 2 remove any seeds.
  • 3 finely slice the remaining lemon and set aside 4-6 slices to use for serving. stir the remainder into the juice.
  • 4 stir the sugar into the bowl and add the boiling water. let cool to room temperature. chill until serving.
  • 5 to serve, strain into a serving pitcher and dilute with cold water to taste. stir in extra sugar is desired.
  • 6 serve in chilled glasses, garnishing each one with a slice of lemon.

Tangerine Ice

Ingredients

  • 8 cups freshly squeezed tangerines and 1/2 limes, juice of
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons sugar (to taste)

Recipe

  • 1 leave juice in measuring cup or pour into small bowl. add salt and stir in sugar, a tablespoon at a time, until mixture reaches desired sweeteness.
  • 2 pour into any flat pan or dish that will fit in your freezer. cover with plastic wrap and freeze 1 hour. stir with fork, breaking up chunks. cover and return to freezer. stir every 30 minutes until mixture is evenly icy and granular, about 2 hours longer.

Royal Baking Powder

  • 2 tablespoons cream of tartar
  • 1 tablespoon baking soda
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch

Recipe

  • 1 mix three ingredients together thoroughly.
  • 2 use 1 teaspoon of this mixture for each teaspoon of royal or single-acting baking powder called for in a recipe.
  • 3 do not use this mixture in recipes calling for double-acting baking powder.
  • 4 store leftover mixture in a covered container.

Tuscan Tuna Salad

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 8 large marshmallows, quartered

Recipe

  • 1 combine sugar and water; bring to the boil.
  • 2 cook about ten minutes before adding marshmallowsj.

  • 4 serve at once.

Tangerine Caipiroshka

  • 1/2 very sweet tangerine
  • 2 ounces absolut citron vodka
  • sugar

Recipe

  • 1 peel the tangerine (careful not to get the pith) put it in the glass. sprinkle with the sugar and crush the pieces with a pestle (or wooden spoon).
  • 2 add the vodka and stir to mix. add the ice and stir again.

Tandoor Style Green Beans For Two (vegan)

Ingredients

  • 1 (14 ounce) can green beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon madras curry powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/4 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1/4 teaspoon garam masala
  • 2 teaspoons black sesame seeds

Recipe

  • 1 in a small bowl mix the oil with the spices and black sesame seeds.
  • 2 put the green beans in a tossing bowl with the oil/spice mixture and toss well to coat.
  • 3 let it sit for about 10-15 minutes for the flavors to absorb.
  • 4 pour the contents of the bowl into a large skillet or frying pan and on medium-high heat, move the greenbeans around with a spatula until fully cooked but not shrunken.
  • 5 makes about two 1-cup servings and doubling/tripling works just dandy if cooking for more people.

Yummy Crock Pot Stuffing

Ingredients

  • 2 cups onions, chopped
  • 2 cups celery, chopped
  • 1 (4 ounce) can mushrooms, well drained and chopped
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon poultry seasoning
  • 3/4 teaspoon sage
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons pepper
  • 1 teaspoon thyme
  • 2 eggs
  • 12 cups bread, cups (any will do)
  • onion, mixture
  • celery, mixture

Recipe

  • 1 saute onion mixture in 1 cup butter for 5 minutes cooling slightly.
  • 2 in 2-quart mixing bowl put chicken broth mixture and mix well.
  • 3 in a very large bowl put the final mixture and mix it well. now put the final mixture into a crock pot and cover. cook on high for 1 hour, then turn it down to low can cook for 4-8 hours more.

Spicy Baked Soy Bean Snack

Ingredients

  • 1 (500 g) package soybeans, frozen shelled
  • 3 cups water
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/4 tablespoon dried chipotle powder
  • 1/4 tablespoon coriander
  • 1/4 tablespoon chili pepper flakes
  • 1 tablespoon dijon mustard

Recipe

  • 1 preheat the oven to 350 degrees f.
  • 2 bring the water to a boil on the stove.
  • 3 add the frozen soy beans to the water, reduce the heat to medium low, cover, and simmer for 4 minutes.
  • 4 drain the water and leave the soy beans in the pot.
  • 5 add the olive oil, chipotle pepper, coriander, chili flakes, and dijon mustard. mix well.

  • 5 cups water
  • 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon grated lemon zest
  • 2/3 cup sugar

Recipe

  • 1 bring water, sugar and the lemon zest to a boil in s medium saucepan.
  • 2 boil over high heat for 5 minutes.

  • 1 combine the first six ingredients in a large bowl.
  • 2 on the stove top, combine the last three ingredients. cook until the sugar dissolves, while stirring constantly.

The Easiest Fruitcake Ever!

  • 1 kg mixed dried fruit
  • 2 cups brewed black coffee, cooled (i use decaff!)
  • 2 cups self-raising flour

Recipe

  • 1 add coffee to fruit and soak overnight.
  • 2 next day preheat oven to 160 deg celsius. lightly grease and line a 21cmx21cm cake tin with baking paper.
  • 3 add the flour to the soaked fruit and stir until thoroughly combined.
  • 4 bake for approximately 2 hours, or until an inserted skewer comes out clean. (if any exposed fruit on top is browning too quickly, cover cake with loose layer of aluminium foil.).
  • 5 remove from oven and allow to cool.

  • 500 g icing sugar (confectioners sugar)
  • 3 teaspoons lemon juice
  • 1/3 cup water
  • food coloring (optional)

  • 1 place all ingredietns in a bowl and stir. leave sit for one minute.

  • 3 add food colour, one drop at atime until the desired colour is achieved.
  • 4 you can divide the mixture and add different colours if desired.

Raw Eggnog

Sophie's Super Easy Chickie-pea And Mato Salad

Ingredients

  • Servings: 3
  • 1 (15 ounce) can garbanzo beans, drained
  • 10 black olives, roughly chopped
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (dried will work also)
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice (i used fresh squeezed)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon sweet paprika
  • 1/8 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • salt and pepper
  • 2 roma tomatoes, sliced
  • 1 sprig parsley (optional garnish)
  • lemon wedge (optional garnish)

Recipe

  • 1 pour garbanzo beans into a small bowl and mash with a fork until about half of the beans are broken up.
  • 2 add the rest of the ingredients and stir well to combine.
  • 3 place a few tomato slices on each plate and top with salad mixture. garnish with a bit of extra parsley and a lemon wedge or twist, if desired.

  • 6 medium cucumbers (medium to large, sliced thinly)

Recipe

  • 1 combine sugar , salt , vinegar , turmeric and mustard seed.
  • 2 add thinly sliced onions and cucumbers. mix thoroughly.
  • 3 refrigerate.
  • 4 i've eaten on these the same day they are made , but they're supposed to sit in the fridge for a few days first :) i hope you enjoy!

Raw Food: Almond-based Berry Smoothie

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup almonds, soaked in water overnight
  • 2 bananas
  • 2 dates, pitted and chopped
  • 1/2 cup blueberries or 1/2 cup strawberry, frozen is fine
  • 1/2 cup water, to preferred consistency

Recipe

  • 1 drain and rinse almonds.
  • 2 put all ingredients in a blender. i put them in in order, and i never have a problem with the dates getting stuck in the bottom.
  • 3 pulse until the chunks are broken up. then blend until smooth.
  • 4 makes 2 servings. i eat one serving, and save the other for the following day. the banana will cause some discoloration in the saved serving, but the taste is still good.

Raw Food: Lemon Pudding (banana Base)

  • 1 banana
  • 1/2 tablespoon honey or 1/2 tablespoon agave nectar
  • 1 -2 tablespoon unsweetened flaked coconut
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice (from about 1/2 of a small lemon)
  • 1/2 tablespoon olive oil (optional) or 1/2 tablespoon coconut oil (optional)

Recipe

  • 1 mash the banana with a fork.
  • 2 mix in the rest of the ingredients with a spoon.
  • 3 alternatively, process all ingredients in a food processor until mixed.
  • 4 note: some people use pitted mejool dates instead of honey or another sweetener. i prefer a liquid sweetener, since the dates don't give a very smooth texture in the final product. if you want to use dates, one should be enough in this recipe.

Florida Fresh Blueberry Pie

Ingredients

  • 1 quart fresh blueberries, divided
  • 1 cup sugar, divided
  • 1 cup water
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/3 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • 1 baked deep dish pie shell

Recipe

  • 1 boil 1 pint blueberries with 1/2 cup sugar and water for 5 minutes.
  • 2 mix remaining 1/2 cup sugar with cornstarch and salt.
  • 3 add hot blueberry mixture to cornstarch mixture, stirring to make a paste. be sure to add the hot mixture to the cold and not the other way around!
  • 4 pour back into pot and cook until thickened, stirring constantly.
  • 5 add lemon juice; remove from heat and cool.
  • 6 while cooling, place the remaining blueberries into the baked pie crust.
  • 7 pour the cooled blueberry paste over the fresh blueberries.
  • 8 chill overnight and serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.

Tandoori Masala

  • 1 tablespoon cumin seed
  • 1 tablespoon coriander seed
  • 1 tablespoon red pepper (cayenne)
  • 1/4-1/2 teaspoon red food coloring

Recipe

  • 1 grind cumin and coriander seeds to a fine powder in a grinder
  • 2 stir in cayenne and food coloring and mix well.
  • 3 store in a small airtight jar up to 2 months.

Tuscan Stuffed Bell Peppers

Total Time: 1 hr 20 mins Preparation Time: 45 mins Cook Time: 35 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 6
  • 6 red sweet bell peppers or 6 yellow sweet bell peppers, about 6 oz each
  • 1 large eggplant (1-1/2 pounds)
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 medium fennel bulb, chopped about (1 cup)
  • 3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 8 garlic cloves, minced
  • 3/4 cup black olives or 3/4 cup green olives, pitted and quartered
  • 1/2 cup snipped fresh cut flat-leaf italian parsley
  • 1/3 cup dried capers, rinsed
  • 1/4 cup snipped fresh sage
  • 2 tablespoons of fresh grated parmesan cheese

Recipe

  • 1 slice the tops off of each of the bell peppers and remove the seeds. place peppers on foil lined baking sheet, and broil about 4 inches from heat for 12 to 15 minutes or until charred. turn to brown all sides. after they are browned, place the peppers in a plastic bag to sweat for about 30 minutes, and then remove the skin.
  • 2 meanwhile cut the eggplant into 1/2 inch slices and sprinkle both sides with salt; let drain for 30 minutes. wipe off excess salt and cut eggplant into 1/2 inch cubes. preheat oven to 375°f.
  • 3 in a skillet sauté the fennel in olive oil for 4 minutes. add the eggplant and garlic and sauté 7 to 8 minutes more. remove the skillet from heat and add olives, parsley, capers, sage, and 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper.
  • 4 divide filling among peppers. arrange peppers in baking dish and sprinkle with cheese. bake in preheated oven uncovered for 20 to 25 minutes or until heated through.

Torgo Juice

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • 1 cut the tofu into 1/2 inch cubes.
  • 2 preheat the broiler.
  • 3 to make the spice mixture, put all the ingredients into a bowl and mix together.
  • 4 toss the cubes of tofu in the spice mixture and stir so that they all get coated. if you have time, you could leave the tofu to marinate in the spice mixture for a few hours but this is not essential.
  • 5 spread the cubes of tofu out on a grill pan or on a baking sheet and broil 10-15 minutes, until sizzling and crisp, turning that a couple of times.

Roux For Cajun Dishes The Easy, Fat-free Way

  • 1 (6 ounce) can frozen concentrated lemonade, thawed

  • 1 on low heat, dissolve sugar in water.
  • 2 in a gallon container, add sugar mixture to lemonade and orange juice concentrates along with vanilla and almond extracts.

Dried Fruit Compote With Rum

  • 1 lb dried fig, stemmed, halved
  • 3 lemons, cut paper-thin, seeded
  • 1 1/2 cups honey

  • 1 divide the dried fruits among 6 pint jars, filling them just over half full.

Plum Chilli Sauce- Apricot Chilli Sauce

Pastel Layered Jello Jigglers (great For Easter)

  • 3 ounces gelatin, grape
  • 3 ounces gelatin, cherry
  • 3 ounces gelatin, orange
  • 3 ounces gelatin, berry blue
  • 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 (1/4 ounce) packages gelatin, divided
  • 5 cups boiling water, divided

Recipe

  • 1 pour sweetened condensed milk into a liquid measuring cup. add enough boiling water to make 2 cups.
  • 2 for the first layer, mix the grape jello with 1/2 pkg. of gelatin and 1 cup boiling water. mix until dissolved. add in 1/2 cup of the milk mixture. pour into a 9"x13" pan. refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  • 3 for the second layer, mix the cherry jello with 1/2 pkg. of gelatin and 1 cup boiling water. mix until dissolved. add in 1/2 cup of the milk mixture. pour over the grape layer. refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  • 4 for the third layer, mix the orange jello with 1/2 pkg. of gelatin and 1 cup boiling water. mix until dissolved. add in 1/2 cup of the milk mixture. pour over the cherry layer. refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  • 5 for the final layer, mix the berry blue jello with 1/2 pkg. of gelatin and 1 cup boiling water. mix until dissolved. add in 1/2 cup of the milk mixture. pour over the orange layer. refrigerate for at least 30 minutes (and keep refrigerated until ready to serve).
  • 6 slice into squares to serve.

Yum Cha Dipping Sauce

  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 garlic cloves, chopped

Tangy Cauliflower Salad

  • 1 large head cauliflower, broken into florets
  • 1 cup halved green grape
  • 1 cup coarsely chopped walnuts
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1 tablespoon prepared mustard

Recipe

  • 1 in a large bowl, toss cauliflower, grapes and walnuts.
  • 2 combine the mayonnaise, honey and mustard; pour over cauliflower mixture and stir to coat.
  • 3 serve immediately.

  • 6 cinnamon sticks
  • 5 cups apple cider
  • 1 orange, studded with

  • 1 mix juice, cider, and water in large saucepan.

Tangy Cauliflower Salad

  • 1/2 medium cauliflower or 1 (10 ounce) package frozen cauliflower
  • 1 cup water
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons oil-and-vinegar dressing
  • 1/4 teaspoon oregano
  • lettuce leaf, to line bowls
  • parsley
  • parmesan cheese

Recipe

  • 1 if using frozen cauliflower cook according to directions on package or if fresh: cut cauliflower head into florets.
  • 2 bring water and 1/2 tsp salt to a boil, and add the cauliflower.
  • 3 cover and cook until tender (10-12 minutes), then drain.
