Rum Taffy Peaches

Ingredients

  • Servings: 10
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 3 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons rum or 1 teaspoon rum extract
  • 5 large peaches, peeled, pitted and halved

Recipe

  • 1 combine molasses, sugar, water, lemon juice and rum in 10-inch skillet. simmer 5 minutes. add peach halves; allow mixture to come to a simmer again. cover, cook 10 minutes or until just tender, serve warm or chilled with ice cream.
  • 2 if desired, 1 can (28 oz) peach halves may be substituted for fresh peaches. substitute peach syrup for water and reduce sugar to 3 tablespoons.
