Recipe
- 1 process garbanzo beans, tahini, chili pepper, garlic, and lemon juice in a food processor or blender (i use a mini-chopper) until smooth.
- 2 add water as needed to achieve the consistency you prefer.
- 3 place mixture into a glass bowl.
- 4 stir in cumin, cayenne pepper, paprika, salt and black pepper.
- 5 cover and refrigerate for at least a couple of hours.
- 6 the flavor improves greatly if given this time to develop.

- 2 lbs sugar
- 1 (218 g) can condensed milk
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup water

- 1 grease one 7x11 inch baking pan and another of half the capacity.
- 2 put the sugar, condensed milk, milk and water into a large, deep saucepan (i use a pressure cooker pan). add a walnut sized piece of butter.
- 3 heat the mix gently until all the sugar has dissolved, then bring to the boil.
- 4 reduce the heat and simmer gently, stirring occasionally. it needs to cook for up to an hour, but the colour will change from an unappealing beige to a golden caramel as it cooks, showing it's nearly ready.
- 5 the toffee is ready when it reaches the soft ball stage. use a candy thermometer, or drop a teaspoonful into some cold water.
- 6 half fill the sink with cold water and place the saucepan in it. beat the toffee with a wooden spoon until smooth and thick. stir in the vanilla, if using.
- 7 pour the toffee into the baking pans, getting all the really liquid part of it out of the saucepan. (as it sets, "blooms" may appear. these are just milk solids (probably from the butter).
- 8 scrape the toffee that has stuck to the sides of the pan out with a metal spoon. this should give nuggets and flakes of toffee.
- 9 when the toffee in the baking pans has set, score and cut into squares.

- 1/4 cup frozen blueberries (or a mix) or 1/4 cup frozen raspberries (or a mix) or 1/4 cup frozen strawberries (or a mix) or 1/4 cup frozen blackberrie (or a mix)
- 1 ice cube

- 2 serve with a black straw and salty peanuts - my own bizarre preference.

Ingredients
- 6 -8 medium tomatoes
- 1 -2 stalk celery, ends cut,finely chopped
- 1/3 cup yellow bell pepper, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup onion, finely chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon season salt
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon italian seasoning (optional)
- 1/4 teaspoon minced garlic
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper (optional)
- 3 cups water

- 1 cross cut tomatoes on top and bottom.
- 2 in a large pot, boil for 3-5 minutes.
- 3 remove tomatoes and place in a colander (make sure colander is inside a bowl to catch any juices).
- 4 cool tomatoes until they can be handled (tomatoes should still be warm).
- 5 using your thumb and a small knife, peel and core tomatoes over colander.
- 6 add tomatoes and remaining ingredients to pot.
- 7 cook over medium heat for about 1 hour, stirring occasionally and breaking up tomatoes while stirring.
- 8 allow to cool to room temperature if you are going to store in freezer.

- 1 (28 ounce) can baked beans (i use bush's)
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 1 medium bell pepper, diced
- 6 slices bacon, fried and crumbled (you can use more if you like)
- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- 3 tablespoons worcestershire sauce
- 4 tablespoons vinegar
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
- salt
Recipe
- 1 preheat the oven to 350°f (175°c).
- 2 in a large dutch oven, combine the baked beans, onion, bell pepper, and the bacon. season with chili powder, worcestershire, vinegar, brown sugar, ketchup, garlic powder and salt. add cayenne if using.
- 3 cover and bake for one hour in the oven.
- 4 you can uncover the second 1/2 hour if you like your beans on the thick side.
- 5 i have also made these in the crock pot on high for 2-3 hours depending on how thick you like them.
